Cultural Counselling

About Cultural Counselling

Why is culture important in counselling?

Understanding a client’s culture is crucial in psychotherapy. Culture deeply influences a person’s worldview, values, behaviours, and how they experience/express emotions.

Having a therapist who personally understands your culture, can be especially valuable when clients hold multiple identities, for example children of immigrants.

Our Approach

We firmly believe when a therapist shares your culture, there is more likely to be a deeper level of innate sensitivity to many topics brought up in therapy like family roles, generational gaps, or social stigma.

We do our best to match you with a therapist who comes from similar cultural values, and we provide all of our therapists with cultural competency training.
