About Cultural Counselling

Why is culture important in counselling?

Why is culture important in counselling?

Why is culture important in counselling?

Understanding a client's culture is crucial in psychotherapy. Culture deeply influences a person's worldview, values, behaviours, and how they experience/express emotions.

Having a therapist who personally understands your culture, can be especially valuable when clients hold multiple identities, for example children of immigrants.

Our Approach

Why is culture important in counselling?

Why is culture important in counselling?

We firmly believe when a therapist shares your culture, there is more likely to be a deeper level of innate sensitivity to many topics brought up in therapy like family roles, generational gaps, or social stigma.

We do our best to match you with a therapist who comes from similar cultural values, and we provide all of our therapists with cultural competency training.
